Wie ausgeliefert man als Kunde DRM-verseuchter E-Books ist, mussten laut Golem zahlreiche Amazon-Kunden erfahren, die sich (ausgerechnet!) George Orwells Roman "1984" auf ihr Lesegerät Kindle heruntergeladen hatten. Als Amazon entdeckte, dass ein Problem mit der Zuordnung der Verwertungsrechte bestand, wurde - schwupps - per Fernbefehl der bezahlte Roman vom Lesegerät gelöscht. Der "Kaufpreis" soll den Kunden immerhin zurückerstattet werden.
